About the Manufacturing Institute

The Manufacturing Institute

Who We Are
INSTITUTE & CENTER STAFF | BOARD OF TRUSTEES & OFFICERS |

American manufacturers are crafting an incredible success story.  We’re the most competitive industry in the global marketplace.  Our innovations and technological advances have helped lower inflation, increase productivity, improve the environment and provide our workers with better pay, benefits and living standards.  Since 1991, The Manufacturing Institute, the educational and research arm of the National Association of Manufacturers, has shared this story with policymakers, the media and the public.  And they’ve listened.  But telling a good story is not enough.  We must also provide the intellectual support that’s needed to make federal policy affecting industry even better.   That’s why we plan to step up our efforts to educate policymakers and the media that American prosperity depends on stronger economic growth, fueled by a globally competitive manufacturing base.  Resources for worker training and education have been expanded through the National Center for American Workforce.  And we will continue to remind the nation that manufacturing is the backbone of the economy.
